Impact & Research

Learning in public as we build a national model

SWF is designed as both a program and a learning engine. We measure outcomes for workers, employers, and regions—and share what we learn with the field.

Impact Framework

What we track

Participant outcomes

Enrollment, completion, placement into high-quality jobs, wages, advancement, and worker satisfaction over time.

Employer outcomes

Retention, safety, promotion rates, representation in key roles, and adoption of equity-centered practices.

Regional outcomes

Strengthened local manufacturing ecosystems, new pathways into high-wage work, and regional capacity to scale inclusive models.

Sample Metrics

What success looks like

Entry

Number and percentage of women entering robotics-enabled manufacturing roles.

Retention

Retention rates for SWF participants compared to site baselines.

Advancement

Promotions and wage growth over time for SWF graduates.

Culture

Improvements in safety, belonging, and equity indicators inside partner workplaces.

Research

Our learning questions

We work with research partners to understand not only whether SWF works, but how and for whom. Some of our guiding questions include:

  • Which training and support structures are most effective for women entering advanced manufacturing?
  • What specific culture and policy shifts most strongly predict retention and advancement?
  • How can rural and regional ecosystems adapt this model to their own assets and constraints?

Findings will be shared through briefs, case studies, and tools that others can use to replicate or adapt the model.

Partner with us on research and evaluation.

We welcome collaboration with researchers, institutions, and evaluation partners interested in equity-centered workforce development and the future of manufacturing.
